I have Kaiser, to which I would give a B-/C+ here in East Hawaii (A+ in Silicon Valley, though).
However, back in July I took a real bad spill on wet wooden stairs at home after midnight here in Leilani. My foot was essentially detached from my leg except for nerves and vasculation.
Rescue squad (excellent) transported me to HMC. After a look from the Kaiser doc there they called Dr. Peter Matsuura at 3 am to come out and put me back together. (He reminds me of this every once in a while).
He was very conservative in his treatment of me; it was 3+ months before he gave me 100% weight-bearing status. He willingly gives his patients his time. I had short weekly visits at the beginning and again now as two of my screws are out and I am walking unassisted.
I can't say anything but absolutely the best about Dr. Matsuura. I could easily have a titanium spring for a foot right now if it weren't for him.
I understand that his mother, Dr. Ruth Matsuura was a pediatrician for many years in this area, and many, many of the local kids were taken care of by her - and that she's sort of a legend. Also understand that he served in Iraq or Afghanistan with our new congresswoman and that the family is quite politically connected. I'd like to know more, but Dr. Peter isn't very loquacious.
Dayna, I hope yours went as well as mine.
