Any cheap way to pickup tv channels?

Our set up:
This is a highly recommended antenna. Works great in HPP.

If you want a DVR so that you can watch what you want and when you want, there is only one that doesn't require a subscription.

You need to check the TV listings to program it, but it is worth it. You can record a program, edit out the commercials and even record the ones you want to keep to a DVD. You can set it to record every week on a certain night at a certain time. We have an older model and we have been quite happy with it. For about 10 months the manufacturer stopped making them for the US market and the remaining models were selling for big bucks. They make a 500 GB model as well.
