Even Hilo has had their share of murders lately. Of course Puna is going to have a higher rate of crime, but it's not just Nanawale that has had this problem as others have stated. This is a very low income area. Higher crime and low income areas usually go together.
I live in Nanawale and I like it. I also live towards the back, so I have some more privacy compared to the houses at the front.
And not that this necessarily makes it any better, but the with the murders, it seems that in most of them the victim and the suspect know each other. It's not as if there is a killer on the loose terrorizing random people. If you get involved with shady people, you are literally playing with your life.
