Where we currently live we could leave our doors unlocked and be alright. Doesn't mean i EVER would. Not doing something as simple as locking your door leaves you and loved ones in a Terrible position if danger approaches. You wouldn't even get the warning noise of someone breaking in! I love hawaii and believe it to be one of the safest places in the country. I enjoy living here thoroughly, and have ALWAYS felt safe. But it is a VERY bad idea to let your guard down because you "feel" safe, or love hawaii. Criminals could care less about how you feel about hawaii. They are opportunists. And by keeping your doors unlocked, you have given them the ultimate opportunity. Im glad people are able to keep their car windows down, valuables in sight. But i don't think its very smart of them.
Its almost as if some people refuse to believe we live in a world where anything bad could happen, let alone to them. Locking their doors, or rolling up car windows, requires admission of this imperfect place that we live, and some people simply cannot accept this. You would NEVER leave your online banking info lying around carelessly because you feel safe in hawaii.
And thats just your money. So why on earth leave your doors unlocked and leave yourself open to possibly losing your life? Im a fantastic driver, and I also have great faith in my fellow drivers here in hawaii. VERY small chance of being killed on the roads.
BUT I STILL WEAR A SEATBELT JUST IN CASE!!
Its not about being paranoid. Its not about being scared. Its not about being violent, or a gun rights advocate.
Its about being PREPARED, and REALISTIC.
I am BOTH!
