Ourdoc, I presented the marked vs unmarked differences ONLY because to compare the costs of the 2 would REQUIRE that the 2 are comparable, which they are not, & I provided the links.
The county has specs for the marked vehicles are some of the most stringent and expensive of any police dept. ANYWHERE (even without the recording equipment that YOU posted was in most vehicles, woulda been nice for you to provide documentation on that!), yet the vehicle requirements that the officers use to select an unmarked personal subsidized vehicle have no where NEAR the specs of the marked vehicles....
Please read the REASONS given by the dept. for those very stringent specs on the links... why would the dept. not use those same reasons to require higher vehicle standards for the personal subsidized vehicles??? If they did, THEN a comparison of the costs of each program could be made....
