Simplistic yes, but not that far off base. Life here is far more laid back and stress free than most of the mainland. Sure there are problems here like everywhere but no one is freezing to death and people here are generally in better physical health. I also can't speak for anyone else, but I always felt here that the problems in the "real" world are minimized. I've always felt a much higher stress level as soon as I land at a mainland airport. No smiles. And the importance of family also has a large influence. Older people are respected and held in high esteem rather than thrown away.
Maybe not for everyone but this is a good place to live.
