We had a HUGE side by side years ago (turkeys were no prob in that monster), replaced it in the early/mid 90's with the first generation French door frig w/ bottom freezer - energy savings was spectacular...
Liked that frig enough to buy the same exact one when we got the house here in 06.... would love through the door water/ice...but have looked at every one of them & you are adding a lot more electric to have that
We shop fridges by the EPA sticker...have loved the look of some then just about died when we saw how much electricity they munch down...and we have found that just looking at the "Energy star" sticker is not the way....some seemingly similar fridges will both be "Energy star" but one will gulp down hundreds more dollars of electric a year ...
Also worth looking at the scratch dent & closeouts (most of the appliance we have gotten here have been) saving are really NICE (make sure that the original warranty is included....we have saved enough that springing for that paper extra one was no prob....did use the extended on only one appliance... but it was nice to have on that one appliance!
