The television signal comes into the TiVo set's built-in tuner through antenna, analog cable, digital cable or satellite (except for the Series3 TiVo, which doesn't support satellite signals).
TiVo Series2 and Series1 DVRs are compatible with any satellite service. Simply connect your existing satellite receiver to your DVR using a serial or IR cable to enable channel changing. These are the only TiVo boxes compatible with a satellite source.
You are welcome to bring it to your house and check it out. If it doesn't work, just bring it back.
