Responsible hunters (which is the majority of the Big Island hunters) use most of the pig. My students' families smoke pig meat, make sausage from it, and cook up the rest as lau lau. They say the guys who only take part of the pig and dump the rest are mostly looking for trophies (as in the skulls and tusks) and those guys are NOT respected (when 11-13 year old boys call someone irresponsible jerks, they are big time irresponsible jerks.) But when the stinky carcass gets dumped by your house, it probably doesn't matter if those idiots are the minority.
