One thing I have learned from all government agencies, Time Warner, Hawaiian Telcom, DirectTv, Dish Network, etc, etc, etc....
If some goes wrong it, and it requires any effort on the part of the provider beyond answering the phone, you will always first be told it is your water pipes, phone lines, cable lines...
With a service provider that type of passing the buck is frustrating, but with water it could be dangerous. How difficult is it to imagine that the now saturated ground gave way somewhere causing a county water pipe to sink, bend and crack, siphoning in the surrounding soil? It's underground so the county can't see it.
Of course it could be rust and sediment dislodged in your pipes as well, but you won't know for sure for a few days. Better safe than sorry. I would boil water meant for consumption, and run it through a Britta filter.
