Primary ballots only from 4 out of every 10 voters
#1
Only 4 out of every 10 Hawaii County voters cast a ballot over the last 7 Primary elections. The Primary is when a lot of the winners get decided, especially in the council and mayoral races. Today and tomorrow, July 13 and 14, you can register to vote at Hilo Bayfront or at Malama Mart in Pahoa. The Elections Office is holding drive-thru voter registration between 9 AM and 4:30 PM at both locations and at KMart in Kona. Please register to vote and cast your ballot for the best candidates in the Primary Election on Aug. 13. Those who have moved or changed their name since the elections in 2014 will need to reregister.

To view the Dist. 4 Democrats' Q&A of candidates for Hawaii County Prosecutor and the contenders for State Senate Dist. 2, check out bigislandvideonews.com. Dist. 4 and 5 council candidates and 5 of the 13 mayoral candidates will be in the hot seat on Saturday, July 16 at Pahoa Community Center, beginning at 1 PM and ending at 6. The public is invited.
