pouring piers into forms

Check the current county codes. Most pier foundations do not cut it anymore. A continuous foundation is the preferred way to go, and provides a basis for adding screen walls and other elements to make the underfloor space more useful. The best way to do a structurally second-rate solution is to not do that system.
