Back in my small kid days we used to get our beef from Kamuela Meat Market, run by Yaro Dochin... All of the Parker Ranch workers got meat as part of their pay back then. We used to spend hours at Uncle Yaro & Auntie Elaine's place playing cards and sipping good whiskey.
Not sure if the meat market is still open but, Waimea is the heart of Big Island beef production.
Make some friends who raise cattle, or maybe some ahiu cattle hunters, as these are the people I get my locally grown beef from.
Better yet is the smoke meat I just got from my Uncle Patrick. Hui! Broke da mout goodness!
