Oneself, I seem to remember that you will be renting in OL, fairly close to HWY 130... if that is true, DH & I mixed carpooling & utilizing the bus for a number of years, until his other side work was full on for over a year....
DH then used a motorcycle until the wet roads took out his knee... then we purchased a very old, inexpensive XCab 4WD pickup sothat I could do field studies for school, & now have a second, crew cab 4WD... only because we had 2 twentysomethings visiting for weeks around the holidays & it was cheaper to get an older 4WD for the girls to explore with than to rent one for 2 twentysomethings!
If you do decide you can work with one vehicle & the bus schedule, it is best to remember that the schedule is a suggestion, buses have been known to come a little early, but most likely will be later...sometimes much later...
Having an umbrella for sun & rain (there was a lady who used to ride the bus from HWY130 & had a red & white umbrella with "BUS STOP" printed on it...) and a good something to read...and be willing to get to know the others waiting... it is all good! I still use the bus for much of my in town travels...
PS: For the years we did not have 2 vehicles, we have always had a light duty hitch on the car (for bike carriers) & have a hitch mounted tray.... both of which we brought here (actually had the tray as one of our pieces of luggage coming over...)
