Building with AAC?
#6
Kaialoha,I'm no mason mostly I do plaster repair, some award winning historic work in the past
I'm patching and painting 150 year old plaster in western Pa right now.Unfortunately I'm not in Puna yet.as for sure wall properly applied I've never seen it fail.Discoloration not really Though I've not seen it withstand 150 plus inches of rain.Sure wall takes paint well.Acidity can be combated with vinegar, only been a problem for me with restoration not new applications. As far as application to aac..clean surface must be wet before applying sure wall then surface of applied sure wall must be finished by wetting and smoothing with Red or Green sponge the red for smoother its a plaster finish tool.I prefer the green sponge it's more of texture finish. The trick is to let it dry enough you can spray it and work the surface without pulling it of the wall I have sure walled concrete chimneys with softball size chunks missing that have stood perfect no cracks etc for a decade with 120 temp variance.I will be glad to answer any questions you have.AAC will accept any finish,I have used structolite, earthen plaster, sure wall, white diamond finish plaster or even good ol dry wall mud.
