Aloha, I am a long time Puna resident and reader of the Punaweb Forum and have often found its topics interesting and useful. This is however the first time I've felt compelled to respond to a topic because I simply don't recognize in these pages the Tiffany Edwards Hunt I know and admire.
Anyone who has ever served their community as a volunteer understands well the enormous amount of time, energy, and commitment required to accomplish anything and Ms. Hunt has accomplished an extraordinary amount for her community over the past several years. To name only a few of her many contributions:
Ms. Hunt is a founding member of the Pahoa Booster Club and wrote the grant in aid application which has just resulted in a $92,000 award to reestablish the football program in Pahoa High and Intermediate School. She is a past president of the Puna Community Medical Center board and was instrumental in acquiring $40,000 of grant money for its start-up operations. She is the president of Mainstreet Pahoa Association and wrote the grant that paid for the Passport to Pahoa brochure as well as writing the brochure text.
I also respect Ms. Hunt's grass roots, low budget style campaign. She is out in our communities meeting folks, listening to their concerns and accepting only small donations. This reassures me there will be no special interest groups standing behind the curtain pulling strings and telling her what to say and how to vote as a County Council member. Her enthusiasm and passion for local issues is the kind of county representation I want. I will be voting for Tiffany Edwards Hunt in the upcoming primary election and I will be urging others to do the same. Thank you.
I am not even voting in this district but this is a good post - polite, stated your opinion, and why you are voting for her. Not one ounce of name calling or viciousness in your support of Hunt.
(Some of her other supporters should take note. Always catch more with honey than vinegar - honey also heals more than vinegar.)
Ever think about running for a council seat?
