I've gone to only one HACA meeting, and that was a few years ago. The president showed up with a wad of voting proxies--more proxies than there were members in attendance (or ever likely to be in attendance)--so everything she supported passed.
I figure that if I agree with the prez, I don't have to get involved because it will happen. If I disagree, I'll have to get my own wad of proxies. Seems like a lot of work, so I just don't pay dues and let them do what they want. It always seems to center around the community center, which is 7 miles of bad roads from my house.
I have been paying my road dues--I figure that's the buy-in if I want to complain about the roads--but didn't realize the funds were being used for other than road maintenance.
