I work with dogs in Brooklyn right now and I know what you mean but it really depends on the personality of the dog and the personality of the owners. I have broken up pit bulls who were attacking and I know that they can feel remorse and regret. You can tell that they know they did something really bad, some dogs that is. The other dogs that don't feel remorse are usually strays, dogs who get little or no human contact and/or dogs that have been severely abused. Anyway , it is too difficult to figure out what kind of owners and how the dog feels about it in this situation.
I just get so pissed to hear about this stuff because this dog will probably be killed due to the negligence of it's owners. Dogs are usually trying to please who ever they feel is alpha in their life. So this dog was probably doing what it thought was its job. This is due to something wrong that the owner is doing.There should be jail time or a serious fine for this type of thing so people take dog ownership a little more serious.
It's like open carrying a gun and having it discharge into some innocent by standards arm. Someone needs to be held accountable.
