Splitting hairs. It was a small handful of white carpetbagger owners that took their large ag lots and created all these tiny, rectangular lots. Shipman's didn't subdivide the big lot between Beaches and HPP, and the lot from HPP to Kea'au. Surely, since this happened in the 60's, as exporting produce from Hawaii went the way of the dodo bird, people have looked down on these divisions versus the island overall and not wonder at how these Puna subdivisions are all diced up. Why do you want to defend them? They walked off with the money, selling bare lots, and you bear their profit by needing to spend more out of your pocket to complete what they didn't finish. Nothing hard to understand here.
