To Mimosa--- you, in my book, are the most respected k#363;puna alive to me to date. If you would allow me to a personal meeting when my work is done here on the Mainland would be a great honor to me. Sure I am a a Haole by looks, and sometimes my "Mainland brainfarts" get in my way, but to this Scottish Portagee bastard who was adopted by an American Dutch family at birth, I know how one might feel about outsiders, as I always felt "outside" by my feelings and upbringing compared to my classmates and my surroundings.
I never have quite understood people who "shoebox" someone from their looks, and not take the time to see who they are. Or the ones who pretty much introduce themselves as "what can you do for me". I have learned to be self sufficient, respect your elders, say please and thank you, if you see someone broken down on the road you stop and offer help somehow, if you know of a neighbor who,is a bit "short", leave mystery baskets of food, etc. This is what Hawaii is to me and why I feel I belong alongside majestic people like Mimosa, respecting one another, and what the respected land gives back to us. Please keep teaching us Mimosa! ( and I don't mind da pidgin!!)
