Aloha all. Some 'food for thought' before going to eat at The Rim Restaurant at Volcano House, from a hostess: you need a reservation, especially if you want a window table... walk-ins rarely get a window table, unless it is at the beginning of our service or late at night, and even then it is not guaranteed as we try to ensure we are filling all of our window tables for two turns, and we do this by filling in reservations. So, tip #1: make a reservation. Tip #2: request a window table at the time you make your reservation, but understand this is only a request as everyone wants a window table, obviously. Tip #3: like I already said: we try to fill each window table two times during the night, and we open at 5:30, so making your reservation earlier in our service (5:30-5:45) or somewhere around 7:30-7:45 will increase your chances, but it still isn't guaranteed. Tip #5... be considerate that everyone that comes wants to sit at the window, and be aware that we leave two hours for each reservation, so 'camping' (staying over two hours) is taking a table that another guest is hoping to get from them... so, be considerate: sit, eat, drink, enjoy and be merry.. but after an hour and fifty mins (give our busers some time to reset the table), please move to the viewing room or go outside to explore and enjoy Pele's beauty. Feel free to shoot me any questions you may have. And, remember... we are in Hawai'i, so relax! Sometimes, people stay longer than expected and this is out of my hands as a hostess! ... if you come around 7:30 or 7:45, your table may not be ready, so how about extending some of that aloha spirit towards me and being patient
