Good catch, Rob -- I'm not even looking at the political aspect.
It seems to many (myself included) that these various "unpermitted" activities would be tolerated if they took place elsewhere such that "a certain very vocal minority" did not have to suffer their presence. Also known as the "NIMBY principle".
Still waiting for a constructive response. Here are some sample questions:
1. Where should activities like SPACE and HVC be located?
2. How will necessary services (education, commerce) be provided to the community?
3. Regulatory compliance is expensive. If no public funding is available, how should these privately-held entities cover their costs?
