About those true/false, yes/no questions: The moderator, Christine Kubat would make a statement and then ask the candidates to raise their hands true or false, yes or no. She didn't say "raise your hands if you think this is true". "Or raise your left hand if yes and your right hand if no." The problem was the way Christine phrased the questions. The audience was equally confused. Don't blame the candidates for those.
