July 19, 2014 4:41 p.m.
The National Weather Service is maintaining the Flash Flood Watch for Hawaii Island effective through 6:00PM Monday July 21st. Although current rain conditions are being reported as light to moderate, other systems of high moisture are approaching the island from the east and is forecasted to bring heavy rains and possible thunder showers. Residents in flood prone areas are advised to take precautions. Stream and river areas should be avoided as flash flooding can occur with little to no warning. All roads and highways are open at this time however motorists are advised to drive with caution and to anticipate delays and possible road closures if hazardous conditions occur. Please monitor your local radio stations for broadcast updates as conditions change and additional forecasts are developed.
