Funny. She seems to be a very unhappy person. A lot of people find their way to Puna to get away from things. Only problem, as pointed out in Total Recall, "What is it that is always the same, no matter where you go? Where ever you go, there you are". Punaweb and Big Island Chronicle can be real downers, and outside of them, the bile-filled, gut-wrenching issue obsessions are almost completely forgotten during the day. Personally, I don't find that much wrong with Puna, except maybe fewer people by having to return to the mainland. Roads, don't really need to go anywhere. Libraries, who even uses those anymore? Parks, there are dozens of parks, mostly empty except for festivals. Emergency road, that is why you get a jacked up 4-wheel drive, then everywhere is a road. Mostly I see beauty, grandeur, the edge of creation, what Pangea must have been like. It also might be I am living over a nitrous oxide vent.
