I think the dots you are connecting Pahoated don't necessarily connect and are just regurgitated mass media version of history. Also its a gross generalization of a huge population. That is fine though you can connect those dots because if that is the whole truth and nothing but then the boomers paid off all the social services they used when they put on the grey suits and dumped billions into the economy. That is my point, social service exist to be used. We pay them forward so we have a right to them. I'm not saying I have used welfare or unemployment yet but I am not paying taxes so we can go police the world, start unnecessary wars and spy on our own citizens. I am paying taxes so that one day when I need healthcare or help making ends meet it will be there. If I use that money to go live naked and free in paradise then all that reveals is that I am a bit creative and intelligent. And by the way do you think Hawaii was ever the same for better or worse since the hippies came and did their thing? I think they were perhaps the most positive part of the American occupation of Hawaii. It wasn't the military presence. The hippies left less of an impact and more or less blended into the communities and landscape of Hawaii. More or less they blended into the culture in Hawaii and have added to the economy of the islands.
