Aloha, Shoresresident. My heart is heavy for you.
Those of us who experienced the loss of a parent, in my case, my Daddy (over 30 years ago; feels like yesterday), will never leave another behind. Time does not heal all wounds, as they say. KathyH said it well ("giant hole in our world"); we move on with the hole in our soul. We must.
Please remember to eat, drink lots of water, rest your body, and all those essentials needed for dealing with the days to come. There are no words anyone can say to ease the pain of initial loss of your Mom. Just know, you are not alone.
May you and your family find peace, strength, and kindness as you go through the coming days, weeks, months, and years. You have now been elevated to "kupuna" (elder) status in your family, as our culture dictates. Lead by example, and continue your Mom's legacy. She will be proud.
I leave you with this, and my thoughts and prayers for the duration.

Aunty Emma DeFries, a Kahunanui in our ohana, wrote this for our loved ones who have passed onto the next life. We all wait for the time when we all see each other again, if it should be.

Divine energy surround you at this time. My sincere condolences.
