Best thing to remember was Last Year, and the years before that where the LIKELY outcome will be NOTHING. Yes, have some fresh water, make sure you got at least half a tank of guess. BUT the REAL thing to do? KEEP a cool head and don't Panic or Freak out because the supermarket is out of bottled water or whatever. Just buy some one gallon jugs and fill em full of water. Heck, my fridge always has about 10 gallons of fresh water in it at all times. I also have 2 5 gallon jugs and one 10 gallon container that I'll probably be filling up (just in case). Got enough canned goods and foods / rice to last 2-3 months if need be.
Remember don't freak out or panic. It's just a hurricane of many. I've been through many many many of them. Worst one was in 92... Living in Waianae at the time. Took almost a month for power to return. I heard they ran out of transformers as all the poles going down Kam Highway were down and damaged. Makes me wonder how many poles and transformers HELCO has in storage for the big island. Main thing relax, slow down, and try to enjoy the day!
