Whether the BIC is a service or not is dependent on the point of view of the reader. It has been, and will remain, a service to many of us for stories and comments about local subjects outside of the mainstream press.
I'm surprised that some feel that a business cannot be considered a service. Leo's rubbish Hauling is business and a service; (to those who use it).

Kathy says; "Big Island Chronicle is not a service. It's a business, paid for by advertising, used as one person's soapbox with guest soapbox pieces from the approved list. It does not represent a cross section of Puna or the Big Island. It has a fair amount of announcements for events and news releases that can also be found in other island publications."
snorkle says; Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure you and most of Tiffany's detractors still use her "not a service" for whatever reason. Otherwise we wouldn't be discussing it.
