Puna in the 1980's
#16
I was a kid back then but have been here since 1979. There was frequent happenings in Pahoa on a Friday or Saturday. I remember music and poetry readings. The Akebono area was the hub of that town. Everyone did have to drive through Pahoa slowly to get to lower lower Puna and there was always something entertaining to see. The area was reputed as the "armpit" of Puna but I've always been fond of that town. I'm going to miss it if it gets thoroughly covered.
