What will you do if/when Ebola gets here?
Here's a quick rudimentary touchscreen device lesson for you Paul.

I'll was typed as Ill and auto corrected with an apostrophe. If I type ill it will result as I'll automatically. The number of odd nuances in the automation of spelling programs is often different from one device to the next. Failure to employ the feature will result in far worse mistakes or add to the time of typing beyond usefulness.

I use two touchscreen devices, a tablet and a smartphone each are different in their typing programing.

One must become very in tune with their spelling program keyboard functions to learn every unique attribute it employes. Beyond that feature is a menu atop the key pad image that displays words that the program predicts the user is about to write based on current input and the user may select the word from the upper menu if they should so select to save time from fumbling with thumbs to type a whole word.

Because the width of a device can vary for the user depending on the orientation the user selects to type in (horizontal or vertical). The digits chosen to type with can also vary from index fingers or thumbs etc. One does not typically type as they would with a common mechanized keyboard and therefore is no-longer able to use the sense of touch to type and is often forced to look directly at the keyboard to finger in the desired letters. This most unfortunately talks the typist eye off what's actually being typed on the screen and therefore leads to immediate difficulties in proofing input to output.

Sometimes after proofing what was created it is more a hassle to edit than let slide as is. In either case, use of a touchscreen introduces many obstacles to overcome for the user and is far more complex to use than traditional mouse and keyboard systems. Just getting the screen to sense ones touch is sometimes a problem and the trying to get the cursor into the proper position in something already written to edit it can be a major challenge.

Copy and paste routines are also more difficult on a touchscreen vs. a mouse and keyboard device.

There you have it Paul. A little computer-literate update from the real world of today's computers. The first thing a computer-literate person does not do is turn off the spelling features on a touchscreen device... lol that was funny as hell. I'm still chuckling over that one.

We who use these touchscreen devices are often surprised by what they spit out in messages and such. We also know to figure out what was intended when a flub shows up. No biggie, sometimes it's funny stuff.
