If I were seeking an employee, in this case a person to represent me, who would I hire? In all cases I would hire an Eagle Scout. Why? Because once an Eagle, always an Eagle and they have learned to live by the Scout Laws and always do. So what is so good about living the Scout Laws other than they guide you to be responsible, dedicated, hard working and have integrity. I have personally raised 3 Eagle Scouts and worked in the Scouting experience for over 20 years and have seen many Eagle scout go on to be outstanding citizens.
Some of the laws that an Eagle Scout will follow and make him (or her) a better and reliable employee are:
TRUSTWORTHY – Tells the truth, keeps his promises, honesty is there code of conduct, People can depend on them
LOYAL – True to their family, leaders, friends and nation
HELPFUL – They are concerned about other people, do things willingly for others without rewards
FRIENDLY - They are a friend to all. They seek to understand others, respects those with ideas and customs other than their own
COURTEOUS – They are polite to everyone, have good manners so to get along with others
KIND – They treat others as they want to be treated themselves
OBEDIENT – They obey the laws of their community and Nation. If they feel these rules and laws are unfair, they try to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobey them.
CHEERFUL – They look for the bright side of things, cheerfully does the tasks at hand, trys to make others happy
THRIFTY - They help others, protect and conserve our natural resources, carefully uses time and property
BRAVE – They have the courage to stand for what they think is right even if others laugh at or threaten them
CLEAN – They keep their body and mind fit and clean, go around with those who believe in living by these same ideals
REVERANT - they respect the beliefs of others
A person with all of these characteristics, traits, and beliefs will make an excellent employee, and the perfect representative for all the constituents in our District. The question in this case is which candidate lives by the Scout laws and will make the best representative. In fallowing all the campaign and the 2 candidates, it is obvious that Ms. Edwards-Hunt does not come close to having the characteristics of an Eagle Scout and therefore would not make a good representative per the Scout laws. While, on the other hand, following Mr Paleka’s campaign, it would appear he does practice the Scout laws and therefore would make a very good representative for us at the council level.
