Interesting. Had a conversation a few years ago with an older local who was relating his experiences when he came back from Viet Nam and decided to walk or swim his way around the entire island to get his head straight again. He said that almost all of the really interesting things he found from old Hawaiian culture were about 30 feet above sea level, put there he thought by storms. To prove his point, he took me on a short walk into the bush and showed me an ancient anchoring stone about thirty feet above the water. He also stated that he didn't want the archeologists to know about it as they would just steal it from it's proper resting place. Interesting fellow.
