I got 30 minutes from the Pahoa traffic light to Maku'u/HWY 130. Was going about 25 MPH the whole time, but had some driver in a big SUV with NO ALOHA pass me and kick up a bunch of dust and gravel right in my face. Hawaii County and the road crew did a great job at getting the road clear and level, but I wonder what it will be like after a couple of big storms and heavy use. It's a beautiful drive, and was better that I hoped for during this crisis.
Also, the amount of trash and junked cars exposed is the shame of Puna. I'm happy to donate my time, energy & truck to help cleanup. What a sad thing to see how much opala is thrown away by people!
