5 dollar fridays at safeway is pretty good.
CVS Longs has excellent sales on food stuffs.
KTA coupons is excellent.
Farmers markets way cheaper than any other food outlet.
Sales and coupons are actually cheaper than 10 years ago here in Hilo / Puna.
At HARA store in Kurtistown,yellow mainland onions very reasonable ,same with brews.
And also can grow much of own foods and fish and hunt,so actually as cheap as mainland,if not cheaper .
By living simply and not keeping up with the Jones with fancy this n that type gourmet diet,can do very well.
We recently noticed prices far less at Longs / CVS on canned goods than any other store on this side of island.
But we also butcher much of our own protein and not dependent on the barge and shipped in old nutrition.
