HPP: Not a Park, Or Paradise
#1
“Hawaiian Paradise Park,” the resident said. “It’s not a park, and it sure isn’t paradise.”

Police executed a search warrant Monday afternoon near Kaloli & 17th, which included officers on the ground and a helicopter for air support. Neighbors were terrified.

Social media blew up Monday afternoon, with one poster... reporting ... “some guy with a megaphone” ordering someone to “please drop your weapons” — followed by five to seven gunshots.

Police initially stated no gunshots were fired, but a persistent and probing reporter finally received this more detailed explanation:

Asked if the police used flash or percussion grenades or if tear gas was deployed during the execution of the search warrant, Amon-Wilkins said the Special Response Team “did use several nonlethal diversionary devices, which could sound like gunshots.”

Oh. It only sounded like gunfire from the lanai, while eating lunch.
