Mahalo, Kiana. This is exactly what our island needs for the future. I'm so disappointed in HEI/HECO/HELCO today, which has lost the intent of a "public utility" granted to them during the days of the monarchy.

Sure, Kauai (KIUC) may have it's problems as a Co-op, however, nothing near the magnitude of us being under HEI/HECO/MECO/HELCO's monopoly. The positives far outweigh the negatives (we have ohana in Kaua'i and have discussed this issue at great length).

Now is the time for change, and perhaps this would be a good start. Get rid of HEI/HECO/HELCO on our island and become a truly "public owned" utility.
