Mahalo for your support!
We collect non perishable food items and you are correct protein is very good! I shop the the sales at Safeway (fri) and Target, KTA, Amazon Warehouse etc. Peanut Butter and jelly are well received. I also buy all the discounted food items after the holidays that I can.
I try and buy good quality items, not so too much junk food but when you're hungry everything tastes good and we don't reject any type of food except for expired food.
I also check our cupboard for close but not expired food and usually find a few items that haven't expired but are getting too close to their expiration date.
Although I believe in the cause, I don't want to be too much of a pest so next month I'll post the date on the Puna Events page and your idea of putting the info in the header is a good one! But if you want to put it on your calendar, except for Dec. (we don't want to compete with the Salvation Army bell ringers)we will always be there at Pahoa Longs from 9 am until 1 pm the second Sunday of every month. If it's heavy rain with high winds there's a chance we could cancel as the overhang at Longs gives us little protection.
Thanks again!
