Maybe get rid of the barking dogs? Your neighbors might appreciate that?
Dogs that don't bark when a strange car is parked in your driveway with people in it in the middle of the night are useless as a robbery deterrent, which is a big part of why a lot of people in Puna have dogs. Because usually when someone pulls into your driveway in the middle of the night and parks there in rural Puna, they aren't the cops.
And people are so used to barking dogs that they don't bother to see why they are barking!
If you look at the posts above JRW did go check out what his dogs were barking at and so did the OP.
If my dogs go ballistic in the middle of the night I certainly don't ignore it. But our dogs are not alarmists staked out on 5 foot chains 24/7, if the canine alarm system goes off at my house there is a reason, not just some random night barking at a cat or a pig walking down our road. A car parked in my driveway with people in it is something they would object to and I would check out.
