FWIW
I use Sevin (concentrated) and delude it far more than directions say... it looks like watery milk when applied and can kill for many weeks when there is less rain... One $18 bottle (bought at any store ie Home Depot Walmart etc.) lasts me a year and Ive seen far less ELECTRIC Ants (their real name) climbing trees (in lines) and far less of there under rock/log (always small satellite) colonies.....
The first 2 years Sevin seemed to keep them in check, but now I see a big difference, about 75% less infestation and not a single ant in house in over a year (I spray house posts and piers about 3 times a year)
If I see a line of Electric Ants going up a Alexandre Palm, I spray and its very common for me to not see a single ant on that same tree for a month if not more....
my place... Im in HA and have 3 acres, 1 acre is all endangered scarce endemic native species (w/o a single electric ant) and the other 2 are mix of Waiwi and exotics with about 100 palms (2 dozen different type). The 1 acre with the cabin has 90% of all the ants on my prop... in other words my findings is the electric ants really dont invade new areas too fast...even after years
Sevin works on Hibiscus blister mites, aphids, mealy bugs, white fly, rose beetles etc. too
and is super cheap

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha
