Are you not living in a home that has not passed its final inspection? If so, you are illegally living in it. Has your permit lapsed beyond the due date?
You are confusing building permits and inspections with the tax office. They are separate entities. The tax office will tax your non-finaled house as if it were finaled so that people don't have a reason to not complete the process and pay a lower tax. When discovered, people with no permits at all will also be charged property tax as if the property had been through the permitting process.
Why don't you ardently pursue the process of getting your home thru passing a final inspection?
