State Judge rules Hawaiian Kingdom still exists
RJhamtom,
Have you heard the story about Jimmy Stevens and the Coconut Wars? This concerns a faction within an independence movement that occurred during the formation of Vanuatu from the French/United Kingdom Condominium Territory of New Hebrides. It's an interesting read and perhaps one of many stories to shed some light on the realities of gaining independence from territorial status. Imagine attempting to gain it from State status. I'd recommend reading about such historical events around the entirety of the Pacific. There's a lot of fascinating history out there.
