Paul is in Prague, and his partner is now doing the work on Provaunt applications. They both have been very considerate in responding to my request for help with the fire ants. If that's the way you want to go,( it looks like it works, from everything I've read.) I can definitely recommend them for their speedy, courteous response.
I made an apt.with them to have Provaunt applied, but have reconsidered and cancelled my apt., as I hesitate to "nuke" my land with poison. I'm afraid it would curtail my jelly making abilities, as well as endanger the bees which are already struggling to survive. It just goes against my basic beliefs, although at times I find I must use poison, like it or not.
After talking to Trent at the Ant Lab, I'm glad I came to my senses. He said that if I used Provaunt, I would NOT be able to use ANY of the fruit that had been treated. No White Pineapples, Lilikoi, Meyers Lemons, Jaboticaba, Hwn. Chili Peppers, bananas..the list goes on. He also said the ONLY treatment for food bearing plants is Tango. Siesta, Probate and Amdro are no good for food plants.
I think I'm going to reconsider how to treat the LFA dilemma. Any suggestions or thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
