Do a search and I believe you will find more discussion. Perhaps some on Hilo-web as well. As you found out cost is one difference.
We are building with slab, primary advantage for us is height. Sophie is disabled, possibly wheelchair again in the future.
Advantage - Each entry will only be inches above ground whereas Post and Pier will be 2 feet min and require extensive ramps. This will also be influenced by your topography.
Disadvantage - Requires much more planning for electrical and plumbing as these will be in the slab, more difficult to modify after constuction and potentially a repair problem as opposed to the accessibility of pipes and wires in open post and pier.
