Katarina's quote:
Where were you last September when all this was brought to light? We heard over and over to give the board a chance. No other board has been given so many chances. They knew what they were doing and they do not care.
Yes, I did say give the board chances early on...Isn't that what we're supposed to do w/a new board? One bad move doesn't necessarily mean this behavior would continue. Being many were brand new, there were mistakes being made by a few that weren't intentional. That was to be expected in the first couple of months. The level of anger some members had seemed disproportionate and premature. Where are these people now?
These candidates of 2014 came to board mtgs prior to being elected. Some of those meetings were held in the library, up close and personal. They were in attendance at the big special meeting called by 2 minority board members about concerns with the proposed solid and green waste facility planned in HPP, w/out membership approval. That would've cost big monies and the members said that night they wanted to be included in the decision. This mtg stopped the mgmt from proceeding and the former GM gave a presentation at a later membership mtg which got voted down.
Candidates were there when a board mtg was shut down in the first 10 min or so, while an atty was speaking on behalf of the GM, not on the agenda, w/members yelling and asking who was paying for the atty bill and asking the GM and mgmt to resign. Many members were upset that the Pres had shut the mtg down even after members sd they would settle down. The mtg was rescheduled on a Friday night w/less members able to attend. The Pres had to phone everyone who signed in to inform them of the new mtg date.
Candidates were there when an attempt was made to fill a board vacancy at the June board mtg bc the treasurer just resigned 2 wks prior. The minority board and supporting members thwarted that. It was up to the new board coming in the following month, not the outgoing board, to fill the vacancy. They saw all these issues w/their own eyes, first hand. No one had to lead them by their hand. Dysfunction was evident.
Things changed when it hit me personally with the hijacking of the HRC in August, that I was a member of. After I learned the appointed board member didn't change her mind to be on the HRC, that she was uninvited by the hijacker, I knew things weren't being done due to lack of knowledge by this individual. Bylaws were being broken intentionally and w/an agenda behind it. And who the instigator was became clear. The rest of the board was aware of it bc I didn't resign w/out stating why. Shortly after this, the VP initiated shutting the RTSC down. The 1st former Pres sd the VP wrote the letter I received.
My intent was not to rehash over past events but to inform you that this board, as candidates, gleened a lot from their attendance at those tumultuous board mtgs way before they were elected.
