Buying in Leilani Estates
#12
As far as M'lady and I are concerned, L.E. may be in LZ1, but it is a much better place to live than most of the other Puna options.
Before the ranters get started, that is personal opinion and applies to us and like minded people only.
If you disagree, we're glad you chose another area to live in.

We spent our second 2 week vacation here on BI driving and looking at the Puna area with the idea of living here in mind.
We drove all the roads in HPP, LE, OL, HB, NE, HA and maybe some other areas that don't come to mind right now, nothing further out than HA though.

Our opinion was that HA and OL were too much like being out on an old Alaskan mining road for everyday travel to and from home.
HB and NE were too much like living in town with their postage stamp sized lots.
You could live right in Hilo without the commute for the same results.
HPP was too much like like living in a SoCal suburb what with the way the people and traffic are.

LE was just right with its nicely paved well kept roads, home mail delivery, and lush vegetation, but mostly from the laid back rural community feeling given off by the setting and the people in the area.
Plus, after living here awhile we see that there is no constant bickering and fighting with and about the community association like in the other areas.

LZ1 is a designation placed by geologists that seems to indicate where the lava flows are most likely to begin, not where the lava goes.
Looking at maps of the recent flows, more lava is deposited on LZ2 and LZ3 than on LZ1.
No matter where you live on a volcano, sooner or later you'll have to deal with a flow.
We were willing to gamble that we'll not have to deal with it in our lifetime.
After that, who cares?
If we're wrong, we'll deal with it when it happens.
The only promise made to you when you were born is that you will die, eventually.

Was a Democrat until gun control became a knee jerk, then a Republican until the crazies took over, back to being a nonpartisan again.
This time, I can no longer participate in the primary.
