Capitalism and communism are economic systems, not government systems. Socialism is an economic system between the two. Pure capitalism is total private ownership, pure communism is total state ownership. There has been enough human experience to show neither pure capitalism or pure communism works in the real world. Most of the industrialized nations are socialist, just some leaning more one way or the other.
Hawaii is hardly socialist. Hawaii is more like you are on your own. There aren't that many governmental safety nets, that is why so many people fail. In Denmark, students receive a monthly government allowance to attend college, their rent and food paid for, no tuition. This is socialism, where the government takes taxes from capitalist enterprises and redistributes it. This is done with a high tax rate. With Denmark, they end up with a population that is well educated and contributes to the society. There is very little crime, poverty or hunger in Denmark, they are on the way to being the first nation to become totally electric. Norway has a 50% tax rate but their medical system is cradle to grave, the citizens never see a medical bill. In a very socialist move, the government invested the North Sea oil dollars and now, each citizen has a net worth over $1 million. There is very little crime, no poverty, no hunger. Not saying any are right or wrong, but time is proving socialism is a better economic system than capitalism or communism. That isn't to say socialism is automatically the solutoin. After all, we know the National Socialist Party as Nazi.
