Well Mella, you are very persuasive.
I, Fred, am a “lurker”… but I’ve only been lurking for a couple of days. (I feel like I am at an Al-Anon meeting) And, to confess further, (I am so very ashamed of this) I believe I am responsible for making my wife, Nora, a lurker also. Wow, I feel so much better now!
We live in Pittsburgh, PA, a place not exactly considered tropical. Our first visit to Hawaii was 15 years ago. It was a wonderful wedding present from my new in-laws. We did not return until ten years later, and we’ve been able to make regular visits each year since then.
Four years ago while waiting for an inter-island flight, we met an interesting fellow from Alaska. He told us that he had recently purchased a house in Puna. That got us thinking, “Why can’t we do that?” Unfortunately we were able to think of many reasons why. After approaching the problem from a number of different angles, we finally came up with a plan that we think will work for us. Consequently, during our next trip (a long 29 days from now), we will be looking to purchase a piece of land in paradise.
The experiences and information provided by this site and its members are invaluable.
(Now all we need is for all you Punatics to decide for us the type of house we should build, where we should build it, the size of the lot, when to build, select the contractors, etc., etc., etc…. SO MANY VARIABLES!!!)
Thank you all so much!
