Flights to/from Hawaii get canceled for some complex, hard to explain to non pilots, reasons. Temperature, aircraft weight, cross winds, winds aloft (at altitude) expected weather at arrival, required fuel load and so much more..... all have to be just right for these ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards)flights. Sometimes there isn't a lot of wiggle room.
