I for one welcome a person willing to speak their mind and not bow to the party line. I think politics is messed up enough with 2 monolithic opposing parties.

So what exactly has Mr. Schatz done for Hawaii and he is basically a DNC puppet. He is arguably in a better position and buddy buddy with Obama.

Disclaimer: I have been a long term democrat who basically moved independent, so please don't accuse me of being republican. Also, I didn't vote for Gabbard, she just impressed me with her NSA vote.

I agree with you that it is good that she speaks her mind , and that she disagrees with the spying being done by the NSA, although the spying will continue imo. The fact that she valued surfing more than a photo op is also a good sign as she appears not to be interested in
that kind of self flattery that so many of her peers would jump on when the occasion arises. Time will tell whether this is the right approach for a successful re-election campaign should she choose to run again.
Her comment on having more debates and then being dis-invited to the debate, speaks volumes on the present composition of the DNC and their leadership of same.
Also agree with your assessment on Schatz.
As far as voting independent, it seems like it will be a long time before that makes a difference, except in a negative sense of making it easier for one candidate in the offical parties to benefit from that vote.
